Check out this video...looks like a 35' to 40' Motoryacht getting stuck under a bridge...first hand view too! Reminds me of that saying..."trying to stuff 10 lbs of crap in a 5 lb bag!". Close your office door before watching, my sick humour somehow found it funny to watch, but thats just me! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eleCk3rWMQY |

Hi all, long time reader and first time poster.
This thread has finally made me come out of my lurking in the hope that one of you can help me find a picture I have been looking for.
I remember seeing a photo of a 40ft (approx) sportfisher trying to go out through some large shore based waves, the photo in particular was of it in a vertical position with the wave crashing just over it's bow.
has anyone seen this photo or have a copy of it ? the original one i saw was actually in an advertisement for boat insurance.

Next to Sharky's recent "Splash Seen 'Round The World" photos, arguably the most famous 'ohmygawd' photo is Geo. C. Scott's "Mojo", a 81' Ditmar & Donaldson climbing up a big one: http://www.mv-dreamer.com/Mojo.htm |

Does anyone know where Mojo is now? Did she survive the damage or was she scrapped?

Frankly, I think it was poor judgement on the part of the skipper to try and make it out on such a big day. Yes, it is fortunate they made it out ok, physically. I used to live in San Luis Obispo, about 20 minutes from Morro Bay, and I can tell you from experience that waves that large do not come in the rogue variety. I have been out by the rock (scaled down version of the Rock Of Gibralter) when waves have been breaking over that jetty-- we're talking 25ft+ at that point. That day, the coast guard would not try to get out-- the waves were wrapping around the jetty and resulting in 8-10 ft a-frame barrels rolling through the channel leading into the harbor-- truly amazing stuff.

Thanks Yotphix - it's always good to hear when boats survive. Let's hope the same is true of Legacy!

"Bad Advice"

Hurricane Isabelle, 2003 - Not sure exactly where each of these pictures were taken, but they were both somewhere around my hometown of Deltaville/Middlesex County.
First post, come here from time to time just because I enjoy reading the discussions... thought a few could chuckle at these unfortunate situations.
