I named my cruiser "Zsanuqwe", which means "Southern Lady" in Ojibwe (my wife is Native American). Still searching for a name for the 1960 Chris-Craft Roamer I'm remodeling. Several four lettered names have come to mind, but I don't think my wife would approve!

There is a small performance sail yacht from here in Barbados that takes part in the local regattas called BRAGGADUNG. I just love that name, it means like to fall down or to drop sumthing down in a hard and harsh manner EG:"the books went braggadung" (the books fell to the floor)

A major sail boat racer friend of mine just sold a Swan 45 and built a new New York 42. Several years ago he lost an arm in a motorcycle accident. Both boats names: "Bandit" (as in one arm bandit).

"Exit Strategy", of course. Along with "Prop Bet"
You'd have to know me personally to understand the meaning of prop bet in it's full sense.

I once read (in a book about a couple that sailed around the world) that yacht names should be made up of one sylabyl words in order for emergency broadcasts to be more readily understood. Do people generally consider this when naming their vessels?

My occupation and travels allow me to see many boats. These are my favorites:
"Crime Pays" 52 Bertram owned by a bail bondsman,

"Dances With Waves" I think that was a 48 ish Benateau

"Alt F-4" (command key meaning escape) a local class racer

"FYIGM" (Fork you, I got mine) An OLD couple on a 50 ish sporty in KW

"Baitkiller" My own sweet little Sea Ox, because its so true.

Somewhere on the Sound , somebody I don't know has a boat I've never seen called the "Oh Baby".

It's always entertaining to hear them being hailed on the VHF.

My office sold a 118 Denison awhile back, and I really liked the name. I was trying to remmber it, it was just on the tip of my tongue. I remembered a friend of mine, Bobby Stotler, was captain at one time, and he told me the name caused a lot of misunderstandings, and he had to deal with it all the time.

Maybe some other Fort Lauderdale regulars might remember the name of this 118 Denison called. "I DON"T RECALL"

My favorite: Two By Sea

Dumbest: Outbound. I can just hear the VHF transmission: This is inbound vessel Outbound..or this is Outbound inbound...say what?
