| Durprass
My wife and I chose DUPRASS for the name of our sailboat (which we sailed from England to California) from Kurt Vonnegut's book "Cat's Cradle". It comes from the word "Karass" which he defines as the group of people in your life at any given time. It is your circle of friends, business and social associates, and acquaintences. It is fluid and ever changing. One special Karass is a DUPRASS, a Karass of just two people, usuallly a married couple. It never changes and is exclusive. Even children born of a Duprass are not included. More generally translated, it means "a nation of two," which we thought appropriate for our small boat carrying us on a big ocean.

Is there something to the name "Pearl Necklace" ? Doesn't mean anything to me.
Back at least 30 years ago there was a sailboat named Abo-Laughia, which was a play on the owner's name. It was changed after the owner got to Australia and found that Abo was the derogatory term applied to aborigines.

On the back of a 60ish' Hatteras near me:
"CRACK OAR"
A bayliner in Long Island "Rock Finder II"
That makes you think of his old boat.
"I Splice", A trawler that's owner (widower) re married. two kids on both sides.
"M.T. Pockets" Old but good.

Ok CaptEvan
So, it seems that neither of us were aware of the slang definitions, just why did you name her Pearl?

Hey Codger, nothing too exciting like the terms of our youth. My grandmother's name was Pearl, and she would use a sandwich baggie, wash it, and reuse it at least a dozen times. I try to calculate the number of baggies I could buy her with what I spend on fuel in an hour.

By definition, the act of Arbitrage is to profit by exploiting price differences of identical or similar financial instruments. It's not really something you want to advertise. Not ironically, this is one of the most prominent name plates ever seen on a yacht...
