boat names

I used to have a 1950, 18 foot Chris Craft Riviera named SNAFU
( Situation Normal, All F*****ed UP )
When it continued to live up to it's name, I sold it.
Then SANFU II also lived up to it's name and I quit using the name !

This week enf I saw one named " Festivus " which made me chuckle....

Hi,

That photo pops up all over the place as was the real name of the ship for a while anyway.

You can read more about it in this link

I'm quite sure that tanker or bulker is not a YACHT!

When growing-up(ish) in Antigua, our family yacht was called 'Bacco'; after the god Baccus, god of wine and good times.

Before the days of cell phones, we all used VHF Ch.68 to communicate in our houses. All the taximen, supermarkets(both of them) and local services to get in touch. Heck, our Telex No. was just No.0008. We still have no land line today.

With a call-sign of 'Bacco', some people though they were trying to call a large yellow digger, a back-hoe. Many confused conversations followed that one.

Yacht names

In Neah Bay, WA I saw a local fishing boat named "Butt Hole." Sort of sets the tone for any radio conversation....
