Endeavour II

Anyone who knows the slightest bit of information about sailing would have heard about the sail vessel Endeavour II. She is a very famous Americas Cup J-class sailer from 1937 and still exist up to this very day. She has other near sisters such as the Shamrock V, the Velsheda, and Ranger. However, a brand new Endeavour II will be built by Royal Huisman shipyards.

Utilizing some of the very best in the industry, the owner of the new Endeavour II will be pleased, come 2008 with their ultramodern replica of the older. Names such as Gerard Dijkstra & Partners, Pieter Beeldsnijder Design, and Rebecca Bradley, the new Endeavour II is in best hands to be fashioned.

Representing yard number 385 the Endeavour II will have a length of 138.9 feet, a beam of 21.64 feet and a draught of 15.48 feet. She is to weigh a bit over 183 tonnes. The single masted sailer is on course for deliver in 2008.

Endeavour II will be built from state of the art materials which will provide optimum strength and performace to this vessel. The hull will be made from aluminum while the mast, spars and boom are to be from Carbon Fiber.

The new Endeavour II will be built as a racer, however, she will also be a luxurious racer. Her interior will be given special care. Ultimatley, Rebecca Bradley and Pieter Beeldsnijder will be responsible for creating a rich, crafty interior that resembles one of the past J-class.

January 25, 2008: This was a very significant date in the construction process of the Endeavour II. Endeavour II is a brand new replica of the J-Class sailer, Endeavour that is currently underconstruction and being built by Royal Huisman.

What was significant about the above mentioned date was that the aluminum hull was turned. For those who may not know, the hulls of these vessels are constructed in a inverted fashion. Upon the completion, the hull needs to be inverted to be oriented in an upright manner in the way it will sit in the water. This then facilitates the builders to add the deck houses and work on the deck and so on.
