OK, I am wanting to get the fishing rods out of plain view. They are currently hanging on the ceiling. Has anyone come up with a place to hide them out of sight? I typically have 8-10 Penn 30's & 50's hanging up. To far of a trip from the truck to carry them back and forth all of the time.

Installing rod holders under the salon sofa or FB bench seat is a possibility......

The extreme heat has a bad impact on the fishing line and the materials used in the manufacture of rod and reels.

A spare closet or one specially made will do the job. Mine are stored under the saloon sofa, yet access means removing cushions etc. So I will be clearing out a closet.
As for having them hanging off the ceiling, I agree this is a bad option. Beside being an invitation for someone to steal them, the oil etc. from well used reels and rods will ruin a good saloon ceiling quickly.
Find a spot close to the cockpit where you can have a good looking, yet practical storage closet. the closet should have drainage, ventilation and lighting.
Good storage can MAKE a fishing boat!

Yea I was not crazy of the engine room situation. I have thought about having a special sofa built but hate to give up the sleeper sofa I currently have there. Problem with the current closets in the 46 Post is they are so short you will have to break the rods down everytime you use them. I know it is what it is but was hoping someone had some pictures of something different they have done.

RT46, I have tought about that and it is fine for the dock rods and the spinning gear but due to the weather aspect not sure I would want to store my trolling rodes like that unless there was a way to may it weather tight.

Dry & Vented I would think would be good storage practice.

If you have the same floor layout as I have (81 model), I would look at the middle section of the saloon floor, could be interesting to make a custom Fishing Rod Storage there...

I think ours are fairly similar. Are you talking about a drop in unit in front of the engine room bulkhead? I have not thought about that, but like that kind of thinking!!

Whatever fits best, I have two floor sections in the middle of the floor, and two large hatches L+R, so the middle section would be my first option to look at...

Do you know if the dimensions for the bench seat on the 43 are similar to the 46? I'll try to measure when I go to survey next week, I am curious if the bridge bench seat(s) would be adequate for rod stowage.

I had new cushions made last year and trying to remember. I think the front was 72" and the port side around 65". I would think you will have to separate the butt\reel from the rod to store and then it will fit as two pieces.
