1986 46 Post 4 blade props

Has anyone installed 4 blade props on a 1986 46 Post with 671 tib's? What size and manufacturer of prop did you use?

Try Frank and Jimmy's prop shop in Ft. Laud......they're really good about sizing and what's the best prop for you......

i have a 46 with 3 blade 24x23 (slight cup) with same power and turn up to 2550 WOT

the boat weighed about 48000 last time it was in the slings.

1950-2000 is 17kts
2050-2100 is 18 kts
2150-2200 is 18.5-20kts

i usually cruise around 2050 and hope to get 18-19kts depending on conditions, sometimes a little less depending on wind, tide, and sea conditions.

I also usually run with less than 1/2 tank fuel unless on long range trip.

BTW, I did have 24x27 and was only turning 2150,
1950 was 17 kts
2150 WOT was 21 kts

I am very curious to see what your improvements or changes are with 4 blade.

Hi Guys

I don't believe adding 4 blades will increase speed, but it will give you better bite when you slip your clutches into gear. And help you to churn up some of that nice "mud" you've got over there Ruby.

Beau you aren't lying, with this mornings extremely low tide I seen much mud churned up as I pulled out of my slip on my way over to West Shore.

by the way, you North Shore guys dont know shallow until you run the Great South Bay (aka Great Shallow Bay) and take the inside route through Morriches....

in a 40+ SF, running inside from Fire Island Inlet to Schinnecock Canal can be an emotional event passing Morriches Inlet on the inside and one or two low spots in Tiana Bay.

RT 146 I know your pain, I grew up in south Wantagh and made that run out east many times as a kid. I am presently running 3 blades, whatever was factory stock I think they are 24 x 26, on my tachs they are spinning 2450 and 2475 WOT loaded, and my detroit tech confirmed very close to that with his tach(I don't remember his numbers off hand but they were close). When we sea- trialed my boat 10 days ago I hit 28 mph wot on my Iphone gps and the Garmin gps on the boat showed 24 knots. I think at 2150rpm I was around 19-21 knots.

Ruby,

btw, you may have this graph already, it was in my post owners book.

if you dont have it, this gives you a pretty good idea of your fuel burn on the 671 TIB.

regards,

Thanks for the power graph, that is one thing that I have to look into getting. I unfortunately did not receive any owners manual or electrical diagrams from Post. The person I bought the boat from never had it.
