I saw a stream coming out from the bank on our port side & told my friend to come slightly over to stbd. Just then......Whammo That is one hell of a scary feeling! You can see the TowboatUS guy just as ashamed because moments after coming along side, he too was stuck. By the time we got out of there, their were two other stuck sport fishers next to him and several more cruisers waiting about a 1/4 mile away.

Wow, does that photo bring back memories. Ran my dads 36' sport fish aground in the grand river (mich) only problem is I didnt have tides to blame. Nothing to blame but myself. I wish I had all the money back Ive spent on bent props over the years.

Whats worse is Ive done the same thing with my sail boat (different spot). Just as easy to ground but a lot harder to get back off.

The only good thing is around hear the bottom is all sand so it usually does not hurt too bad.

Many years ago (A place far far away!!) my father got his car stuck on the slipway whilst trying to recover my 25 foot fisher.
He could not get traction to climb off the slip, so I told him to back down towards the slip so the boat engine was still in the water.
Bemused he did this!

I fired the boat engine up, pushing the car up the slip with his wheels spinning too.
WE didn't make it first try, so more throttle on the second go pushed us clear, but also shoved the boat 8 feet up the trailer and inches from the roof.

Ooops! I took 12 guys to bring the boat safely back onto the trailer rollers!!

Some of these pics bring back the "Oh S**t!!" factor.

here are some photos of a yacht that had been in Marina Shipyard in Long beach for quite some time, they have been tearing it up for months now, but wouldn't really let anyone take photos of it in the yard, i caught it on a trailer before it goes to a landfill or something.

Now, that's impressive.
I mean, she's a minesweeper, meaning FRP or wooden hull, right?

From the looks of it, she didn't just nudge the rock and hang up on the low tide....she whacked it at speed!

Strong stuff them Germans build, eh?

These 54.4 m boats are built by Abeking & Rasmussen of a special antimagnetic steel (NMST) also used in submarines. Speed with 2 x 2.200 kW is 18 knots.

in the newspaper they wrote: "it was snowing and the view wasn't that good (...)", why do they have a GPS onboard, when they don't use it?!

well, lets blame it on the u.s. army: they shutted down the GPS

guess, who has to pay this? german public, just because somebody wanted to drink a coffee

@ Loren: germans build everything stronger, than it should be! try a crane offert to take 200 tons, you may take 350 tons with it without that it breaks

Austenitic Steel

Loren
There are quite a few Non-magnetic steels with very good properties as hull materials.

I didn't know they used those to look for land mines, too.

Just came across these photos never seen them before...could be new...85Ft Royal Denship showing how to securely dock your vessel without needing any lines! Turns out the yacht was going through trials before delivery.

I bet somebody had a bad day...My Italian is a little rough but here's a little translation "72Ft Boat falls after crane collapses...anyone looking for some Man engines low hours bring chain saw if your seriously interested, for sale immediately! I think even a boston whaler would explode from that height!l
