Not been around here for a while with one thing and another, but has anybody picked up on the 'new' world's largest yacht'

Aparently 5years of secret work has been done by AWD! Good going to keep tight lip for that long!

Welcome back Jon! We recently had one of the engineers from Platinum/Dubai sign up as a member, but he didn't post anything. Given the level of interest by everyone, it will be nice to see the final outcome.

Good to see you back on the forum!

I just noticed the number of views on the "original" Platinum feature (not this thread). It just clicked over 40,000 in the custom-classic-unique forum...

http://www.yachtforums.com/forums/ne...que-yacht-113/

There's always a number of people looking at the feature, but I was wondering how so many people continue to find it. Duh! A Google search under "largest yacht" or "world's largest yacht"... and YF's at the top.

Cool!

Interesting that the bridge was placed in one of the lower decks!

I just received a VHS cassette tape of VH-1's "The Fabulous Life of Filthy Rich Billionaires. Previously, I supplied the production crew with images of Platinum (seen earlier in this thread) for the program.

The episode was a "hip" look at the lives, homes and toys of Multi-Billionaires. It featured Bill Gates, Paul Allen, Larry Ellison, Roman Abromovich and sheik Mohammed bin Rashid al-Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai, among others.

As many of you know, there have been rumors and speculation about Roman A. building a yacht that would eclipse Dubai. In the show, they touched on this as well. Recently, a source indicated the same, but the details were sketchy. We’ll just have to wait and see… there may be a new ruler to the throne on the horizon.

Lets not take anything that is being said on "The fabulous life of .." too seriously..

(for us Europeans, the show airs on MTV Europe)

It looks like that show will air on Wednesday, May 10 at 9:00 P.M.
I think that Dubai came out really well. It would be great to see some interior shots, but that will probably never happen.

Carl, on a serious note, you write that you suplied the tv-show with the images taken from this site.

When posting our photo's on this site, are we all 'at risk' of our photographs being handed out to tv shows (or magazines etc etc), or does this only happen with the consent of the copyright holder or his/her agent?

I have an agent who handles the sale of some my photographs. I guess I would be rather 'annoyed' if someone else would give them away, (maybe even making some money, or free publicity) and I would therefor be missing out on income..

If you remember, I put a bounty on Platinum's pictures and I paid for them!

I did NOT sell these pics to the production company. I supplied them to help generate more exposure for the yachting industry... and I did not ask for credit.

As for other images on YF...

1. We do not post (or allow) hi-res images, therefore they would have no value for commercial reproduction, i.e. magazine or televised media use.

2. The pictures posted on YF remain the property of YF and the person posting them. If an inquiry is received for images that belong to a member, then that member would be notified of the same.

3. YF doesn't sell pictures. We don't even sell promotional items. In contrast, we're having shirts and caps made to *give* to our members.

4. If a request is received for images that were produced, or owned, by one of our builders, then I direct the inquiry to that builder. I have done this on numerous occasions.

As a courtesy to the members who participate at YF, sharing news, useful information, photos or helping others, then I am happy to refer inquires and I encourage an occasional plug (when relavent) for their service. In my book... it's all about reciprocation.
