It was in July 1958, they were driving from Gothenburg to New York and they were escorted by a cargo ship, the Clary Thordén. Onboard was the boatbuilder himself Ole Botved, James R. Wynne and Sven-Erik Örjangĺrd.
Botved and Wynne I had the privilege to meet a couple of times here in Sweden in the 60:s and 70:s.

I am not sure if a Salvador Dali aircraft wilted on top of this thing or it is mating with a limp sea creature of some sort ...

Hi,
I am fairy certain that this is not the first time a link has been provided to this remarkable vessel here on YF.
It first appears here in the link within the post. http://www.yachtforums.com/forums/125020-post108.html
It then shows up in Post 122 on page 9

Is it really in keeping with the spirit of the thread title to include boats that are best described as "primitive craft' or the locally built and used native vessels? Of course they are crude and may be unattractive but they are built with available materials for 3rd world subsistence and transport. They were never intended to be yachts.
In my most humble opinion, this thread should stick to glossy pleasure yachts which somehow missed the boat with regard to styling or the other undefined attributes that make a yacht pleasing to the eye.

I would second that thought and opinion.

Ditto Marmot.
Sorry JU52, but I'm going to remove your posts. Really not appropriate here. Marmot and K1W1, your posts will be removed too, so maintain thread continuity.
CarelM, you've made some wonderful additions to this thread and we all appreciate your effort. Your last post and pics falls into the category above, so it will be removed as well.
Thanks to everyone for being understanding.

Thanks to everyone for being understanding. | OK - no problem at all.
@Marmot: the title of this thread contains "boat" and not "yacht" ;-)
