rudder stuff box leak-help

3 days ago i became the proud owner of a 71 38 ft roamer. yesterday i noticed the port rudder stuff box leaking too much.how do i correct this? pipe wrenches?

Stuffing is what you'll need most of - wax coated rope really.
COmes in a variety of diameters - reckon you'll need some of the larger sizes.
Hopefully, nothing else appears amiss once they (yes, look at both) are opened up.
If she's still in the water, try simply tightening up the "caps" as best possible. Still leaking - check battery charger/pumps -- no sense going down with the ship.
