Moonen 94 Alu to come...

During the Monaco Yacht Show, Moonen released their latest project, the 94 Alu, a fast semi-displacement aluminium cruiser. Two versions are already on order, one to a YachtForums member!

This is the good looking boat on the rendering, design René van der Velden.
She will have a range of 2.500 nm at economy speed and a top speed of about 25 knots.

I agree on the "good looking" Lars. Has René van der Velden designed any larger yachts recently?

Since this is the Moonen forum, here is the hull of the 114' expedition by René. The hull was transported from a subcontractor to the Moonen shipyard and she will be delivered in May -06.

And what would be the proper term to describe the long fins sticking out from the aft chine area?

Kelly

"BILGE KEEL: A long longitudinal fin fitted on the curved of a ship at the turn of the bilge to reduce rolling"

Big ships have it and sometimes also small...

Humm. Possibly also reduce any tendency to broach? In any event, I would think this would be something to help deal with very heavy seas. Which makes perfect sense for the expedition mission.
