I admit that I've never heard of "Grenfell" boats prior to you and boat4life bringing me up to speed on them.
Now I can't turn around without seeing one..
- The first 2 photos are of Grenfells that reside here
- Black tie
- Sailboat
- My favorite time of year (next to summer)

Never heard of Grenfell?
attached is a story about him in a February 1997 issue Pacific Yachting magazine...
I hope it comes through clear enough to read. If not I could PM them to you for your interest.

The Hardtop Cruiser on the front page looks like the one I captured in the above photo.
That’s a great historical background read on Grenfell, and the McQueen/Grenfell collaboration.
When looking at the Bel Air, Vandal, and Lazee Gal yachts, I see lots of McQueen design influence. The only thing that jumps out at me in retrospect with Grenfell’s influence on the above Yachts is the hull window frame treatment. But then again, I’m not a designer so I’m probably missing a lot of detail. |

No, but it’s the second time it’s happened. Must be a webshots thing. Copy and past into your address bar and click “return”, if that doesn’t work, go to my website (page 5).

Ya, that's what I was thinking also, just a smaller version of Hotei. I wonder if it's also a Monk-McQueen effort. Here's Hotei...

I guess I should "edit" my above Hotei post:
The shipyard was McQueen
The Architect/stylist was Jack Sarin. No Monk association that I can find.
