Yachts at the Summer 2012 Olympics (London)

Some companies, particularly brokerage and charter companies are getting in the business of promoting charters onboard a select number of yachts for the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. YPI has well noted names for this event including "Leander" and "Legend" plus many more.

I shall be ringside for the sailing in Portland and Weymouth as I have a job as the producer of the victory ceremonies. I'm looking forward to telling my guys to hit the button marked "God Save the Queen" at a great many of those ceremonies!

Viewing the super yachts at the London 2012 Olympics

For the London Olympics, there will be quite number of superyachts moored in various locations - on the Thames I am assuming.

I don't know if it will be possible to approach them by boat on the Thames, but, if so, it would be a great opportunity to see some incredible yachts and take photos.

Does anyone have plans to take their boat on a cruise and see the super yachts, and would be happy to take a paying passenger along?

It would be great to hear from you.

    Best regards

    Rick

    A Very Unusual Craft

One boat that will stand out in London will be only 30ft long and wooden.

The boat has been built from pieces of wood donated by the public that means something to them, a Jimi Hendrix guitar, grandma's wooden spoon or a rule used in a shipyard.

As an artwork, its one I'd like.

With the Olympics about one week away, the yachts have started to arrive. "Ilona" and "Seanna" are two of the big names there already. Other yachts are there already with many more to arrive. You can follow the arrival of yachts there on twitter on the London Port Authority's space.

Octopus arrived this afternoon between Canary Wharf and South Quay. Leander G is moving down towards London while hosting the Queen & Duke on their tour of the UK.

Wow Ilona looks so small compared with Octopus but she is in no way a small boat!

I found pics on FB, I love that shot where "Octopus's" bow sticks into the street.

Once you get your superyacht docked some where along the Thames how do you get to the Olympic venues with equal ease and in grand style?
