Those slips held boats between 40-55 feet. A witness said that they heard loud explosions prior to a fireball (propane tanks?).

Looks to me like a Sea Ray Sedan Bridge on the left, A Meridian on the right, and in the middle I think maybe a Navigator?

Trust me, there is nothing more scarey than watching a fibreglass boat burn.
They go up so quickly and the smoke is so black. Shivver down the spine.

- US Coast Guard, is this a converted Destroyer?
- CDN Frigate
- Bad Kitty, 2 down 1 to go
- Michaela Rose, globe trotting
- Nice new Queenship, I hope that purple/blue night lighting display was a one-off option.

No sir, these are the US high endurance coast guard cutters. But I do get what you mean because they vaguely resemble the US Navy's Spraunce-class destoryers. However, these HE cutters are smaller than the sprauce class.

Good eye Ron, it's the USCGC Mellon, a purpose built Cutter. Very handsome ship.

More Mellon

The USCGC Mellon has had quite a history -- even fighting in Viet Nam. http://www.uscg.mil/pacarea/cgcmellon/history.asp

Thanks for the DockWise with Ferry picture. Did not make the local news for Ferry number 2, still awesome sight. I assume that ferry number three (the last one) will be shipped out in the next month or so. Your updates are very much appreciated!
