Project "Darius", now Radiant

Project "Darius" being built by Lurssen is nearing launch. Her launch is to be in the Summer of 2009. She is a near sister to "Dilbar" but will feature a grey hull and white superstructure. She is in the new floating dry dock on the river.

Hi,

I can confirm this. Project Darius was launched at 16:41 local time (CEST) by two tug boats. Before that, Al Salamah was brought to the Lemwerder yard site. She will now go into the dock for painting.

The white and grey painting make Darius looking diferent to Dilbar. Some design details are altought diferent (bow, nocks, tender storage, mast, SAT domes). Some parts of her remind on ICE.

Yes there are a few differences. On "Dilbar" there is the podded wing stations outside of the bridge and the semicircle or elliptical shade cover directly above to match. On Project Darius, there is the podded wing station but no extended half elliptical cover apparently. But there seems to be another pod on the deck above just aft of the bridge pod, this is not on Dilbar. Other aesthetic formations i think at the base of the mast are also not on Dilbar. So there are quite a few differences other than the paint but more or less they seem to be similar in overall conception.

Dilbar engines

Does anyone know what type of engines are installed on Darius and Dilbar? I was trying to find it out, but it seems to be some kind of secret or what...

Best regards to everyone

Mario
