Stcw-95 And?

Alright fellas', I got an offer to work on this inland vessel around the end of August, how ever, lets say I went down to ol' Ft. Lauderdale, completed the STCW-95, How do you go about getting experience under your belt (no one wants to hire inexperienced chaps, right? I've virtually read every crew posting and of course you need experience! So what do you do your first go round? Work for free (wouldn't bother me, for the first time) alright veterans give me some pointers!

Thanks fellas!

Hi,

If you have read all te crew related posts as yu say you will ave seen the same message over and over again.

Neat and Tidy appearance, a brief and accruate CV walk the docks in the marinas asking politely if there is anything going, an early start is best when looking for day work.

I would not think that Ft Lauderdale is the best place to look for work in the summer as a lot of boats will have gone north or to Europe for the season.

Thanks, I'm looking at the International Yatch training in ft. Lauderdale. STCW-95 and the YRC...should be a good start.
