Review: Lazzara 116' RPH Motoryacht

Two VIP staterooms are placed at opposite beams, facing each other, while a third is nestled into the forepeak; shown here. All feature queen size berths as well as walk-in closets. Each is characterized with beautifully finished cherrywood cabinets, white carpeting, with ensuite heads/showers. The forward VIP benefits from a strategically positioned deck hatch for stargazing. Crew quarters are aft, with a Captain’s separate cabin and two crew cabins with single or bunk beds. There is also a crew lounge with cooking facilities and entertainment.
The port VIP was specifically configured for wheelchair accessibility. The berth is positioned against the hull side for increased floor space and the entryway door has been widened. Not shown in this picture is a partition between the starboard and port VIP's that folds away, granting better access between the suites.
Lazzara 116’s engine room is designed so that full head room and walk around space are plentiful. The twin MTU Series 2000 @ 2000 hp turning T 3.48:1 Twin Disc transmissions are abetted by American Bow Thruster thrusters and stabilizers. All instruments and mechanical components are set on cushioned mounts, with double-insulated bulkheads, acoustically insulated, to virtually eliminate sound and vibration throughout the yacht while running and at dockside.
The L-116's shaft & strut running gear spin a pair of five bladed, Nibral Rolla propellers. Partial prop-pockets are recessed into the hull to minimize draft and reduce the thrust line output angle. Coupled with a keel, this configuration partially shrouds thrust and increases straight line tracking. Below the waterline, the L-116 is a hand-laid, unidirectional, vacuum-bagged, balsa core hull. Areas prone to impact, such as the keel and chines are solid glass, as well as any thru-hull fittings. The remaining sub-surface areas are double-sandwiched for redundancy and strength.
Has Lazzara thought of everything on this 116' marvel? Probably not, because at their rate of innovation, it's a sure bet they'll debut something new next year and every year. The L-116 is a culmination of Lazzara's fortitude and decades of turning ideas into waterborne reality. In this case, Lazzara has made yachting a reality for the physically challenged and in doing so, has added yet another level of commitment to their family's continuing excellence.
