  1. Horizon Green Concept: VISION 74

The latest Horizon VISION 74 successfully attracted the attention of many Annapolis Boat Show and Fort Lauderdale Boat Show attendees. It is the first Horizon motor yacht to incorporate new energy saving features developed by their own research and development department.

Mounted atop the sky lounge are four solar panels, each able to generate 180W of power, sufficient to supply power to the vessel’s LED lights, rope lights and nameplates. In addition, a newly installed solar system can reduce the operating hours of generators and the reliance on diesel fuel or nighttime shore power consumption.

Other energy saving designs incorporated into the Horizon VISION 74 include:

    ● A center salon skylight allows natural light to illuminate the main salon during the daytime, while at night, when turning on tube lights installed in the skylight, both the salon and outside upper deck can be lit up simultaneously, saving operating power requirements.

    ● Oversized windshields and maximized side windows on both the sky lounge and upper deck provide a wide view and ample daylight.

    ● Less halogen ceiling lights and more indirect lighting throughout the boat to decrease power requirements.

    ● Located under deck, the forward bow VIP stateroom features additional side windows on both sides of the ceiling to allow for more natural outdoor light.

    ● Large port lights throughout the boat bring in natural light and fresh air.

Because the energy crisis and global warming have become serious environmental concerns, the Horizon Group is committed to building yachts equipped with new energy saving technologies, as well as power design alternatives to reduce the power consumption and greenhouse-gas emissions of its vessels. With the introduction of its new Vision 74, Horizon Group shows it is possible to make the power boat greener, as well as showing their ability to provide more “Green Concept” vessels in the future.
