That number is the Coast Guard Doc #. On the net you can find only limited info here: http://www.st.nmfs.noaa.gov/st1/Coas...esselByID.html

More info may be discovered by ordering an Abstract Of Title (for $25) from the Coast Guard here: https://vcart.velocitypayment.com/uscg/

The Chris Craft Hull ID should be on the boat somewhere. If you find it, you can get more info on your boat here: http://www.mariner.org/

Hull ID number

I found mine stamped on the wood frame where the generator covers lift out. I was working (what else) on a wiring problem, and as I was slowly lifting me head facing forward on the boat to get out of the engine compartment, there it was.

RDP-38-0503

I also found the Coast Guard number painted on the metal frame.

Mine is etched into one of the beams in the engine room in front of the battery.
