Tribute 85' Sportfish Unleashed: "DOUBLE DOWN"

I saw this georgous yacht last weekend and thought I would share it.
I love the design of the tower. Designed by Applied Concepts. 3 - 2400 MTU

http://www.tributeboats.com/CTC/boats.asp?ID=31

I hope I didn't violate anything on this site posting this.

Pretty wild-looking, alright...is it just me or is anyone else waiting for an aft bilge pump to come on.

I was too busy thinking about changing that masthead bulb . Her style will definitely take some getting used to, but everything I see is logical and (I keep going back to this) Radical.

Hi,

It already is, it discharges below the waterline so you can't see it!!!

It appears that there is a ladder from the fly bridge that goes inside the mast to the crow's nest and also has a door that opens to the hard top. You may need to be some sort of acrobat to climb up on the hard top over the crow's nest to get that bulb.

Still an interesting departure from the standard Sportfish.

Our yard recently wanted to use a cherry picker to change the anchor light on a 50 Viking SC. I don't like heights, but I did the change, but don't these designers realize that these lights often have to be changed while underway.

I definitely think that Richie Scheffer deserves a lot of credit for taking on this project. He did a stellar job putting this rig together. Hats off to Tribute.

Yes I was thinking how much those 2400hp motors weigh. The Cat C18 weighs 3750lbs but it only makes 1000hp.

Double Down is now in Freeport, NY. That boat is seriously sharp.

Quite a machine, but I don't like the twin sat-domes; its a fishing boat not a conference-centre.

On another thread in the Tech section there is a question of where to put the air-intakes on a sportfish? Well gentlemen, we have our answer. Up and to the side of the aftdeck doors (I think, but thats where I'd put them).

Sweet and neat.

She's not a conference-centre? Time away from the office costs a lot of money, as does this boat. Eliminate the first and the second is more do-able.

When you say aftdeck doors are you talking the transom or salon doors? In either case that brings a lot of noise into the cockpit, especially if like this one you're dealing with trip-MTU's

Positive air pressured engine spaces.

Blow air in, instead of using the motors as a 'lung', stable HP and economy. I used to wait for my ears to 'pop' before starting up the MTU's.

When I say economy, I am of course joking. The old V8's were terrible.

Every MTU boat I've run (mostly 12v183's), I hid in the salon until the massive amounts of smoke dissappated on cold start up. LOL

Although I was on a boat with MTU 16v2000's and (aside from one coming apart at 350 hrs), they ran great but were a bit noisy at cruise. Had a lot of turbo whine. Economy was good as well.
