SIGMA & Wally Island: Familiar?

Project "SIGMA", built by Blohm & Voss Shipyards. I just saw it in the yacht forums. this is the photo http://www.wally.com/jumpCh.asp?idUs...=IT&attivo =4 of the wally island i cant find a photo of the Sigma project but its in the main page of yachtforums.com if u roll a bit the page down. For some reason i find them quite familiar. Did Blohm & Voss Shipyards copied from Wally? Because ive seen Wally island quite a lot time now.

John.

To make that argument one would have to argue that Wally poached the overall layout/look from Rybovich since it echoes the sportfisher's curves in the sheer, and the upsweep from the rear deck to the top deck.

Sigma has none of those characteristics, a reverse bow, a high transom, and the upper deck arrangement is somewhat rounded with a vaguely pyramidal shape. That both have a single superstructure rising from a mostly flat deck does not make one a "copy" of another. That's a stretch slightly too far, IMHO.

Hi,

With SIGMA you are seeing pictures of the finished article, the Wally Island one is only a concept at this stage. I would say if any copying went on it would be the other way around. TKMS had sketches of SIGMA on the stand in Hamburg at least 2 yrs ago( the show is every 2 yrs and wasn't on last year).

It wasn't built at Blohm and Voss but at another yard in the TKMS Stable ( HDW)
