CRN's banners were uploaded on Thursday night. They had a counter on their home page that was showing 470 hits. By Saturday night, they had over 720 hits. After seeing the traffic, they slightly re-vamped their site, added a few new yachts and re-set their hits counter to zero again. I think we woke 'em up!

I have a soft spot for CRN Ancona. They produced some truly awful yachts in some respects in the old days. One of these was how in the crew bathrooms, when you used the shower, the water would go everywhere, drenching the toilet paper, pouring into the cupboards (kept everyone's soap soft I guess) etcetera, just no practical way to incorporate a shower curtain...that's OK on a 40ft sailboat, less so (even for the crew quarters) on a 130 footer. And when the plumbing went wrong anywhere, you had to literally destroy the walls in order to access the pipework...?!

On the other hand, they tended to be very seaworthy, taking everything the Med. could throw at them. A great plus was that they tended to be "under-designed", so owners, skippers and crew could always improve their yachts afterwards in various ways. Adding a bit of superstructure forward for more storage space and a more stream-lined silhouette in wintertime for example. Compare that to today's custom-built "production yachts" (any builder) where it would take a very courageous man indeed that attempted anything similar...

If there's no place for CRN in this world anymore, then there's no place for airship anymore either!

CRN was always building on one side beatiful yachts such as Azzurra (Gilgenast, rest in peace) and realy ugly ones, like Kanaloa (if Shipyard was a girl, George Nicholson and Paolo Scanu would be sitting for rape). It is so even now-a-days...on one side the Magnifica series (Magnifica, Clarena, Saramour-Nuvolari&Lenard) and the new 72 meter Clarena II (Nuvolari&Lenard) and on the other side yachts like Ability or Gi-Vi (both Zuccon Int.). CRN was always a yard of contradictions both technical and aestetic.

The CRN range is impressive and set to expand.
CRN should revamp their Video area, so people can get clearer views on what they can do!!

I like both the CRN128 and the CRN46 Magnifica setup, very nice

I am glad to see that CRN has jumped onboard. One of the design concepts they have incorparated into their range in very intriguing to me. On their most recent 54m offering they incorparated a patio directly off the master. I am not too sure about the seaworthiness of such a concept in rough seas, but I definitely like the idea and can't think of another boat in her size range that has offered the same. Very innovative if you ask me

Glad to be part of Forums! I am the US rep for CRN, but not a techie. However, I am told that the master suite 'patio' is on the main deck and far enough aft of the bow that it is allowed to be used underway by MCA. In the event of weather or seas, there is a steel hatch-cover that is hinged overhead. It swings down and is dogged with hydraulic-driven pins, making the area totally secure.

Hi. I'm the CRN rep in the Americas and responsible for the videos online ay CRN-Americas.com and at Yachtcouncil. They were prepped for streaming using Apple quicktime and they look pretty good on my Mac- but often that does not mean they will be good on PC's. Any details of the problem viewing would be appreciated. I'll try to get some advice on this.

Hi Yachtie,

I'm on a dialup connection, running IE6 on Win2000. Which may make me a worst case scenario? Anyways, the sequence for the loading of the elements on you main page is a little peculiar. Though when the page load is complete there are no problems. I am not fond of web pages with lots of black background, but them's just my druthers.

I clicked on the panel to take me to the Magnifica page. That page started to load Ok. Then the page seemed to freeze. I'm pretty sure this was while the slideshow was loading. Mandatory slideshows are death on a dialup connection. But if you're only interested in broadband clients, don't sweat it.

Welcome to YF.
The videos seem to get rather pixelated, jitter, loosing quite a bit of definition, even on 8Meg DSL. Wether this is just your streaming server creaking!
Have gone through most of the vids at YachtCouncil too!
Any chance that you would offer videos in Quicktime & Media Player, to cover all common formats.
