| ICW Waterway Guide circa 1912
For a great summertime read on this subject, I highly recommend "The Boy, Me, and the Cat: Voyage of the Mascot 1912-1913" by Henry Plummer.
The narrator, accompanied by his son (plus the family kitty), gives a very wry and entertaining firsthand account of sailing a 24-foot catboat down the ICW from Boston to Miami and back. Complete with photos & illustrations, Mr. Plummer depicts in great detail what yachting was generally like back then for average folks and what, in particular, one faced by choosing to run the 'inside'.
