Stumbled across this and thought I would share. I know we have some Talitha-G fans around here, right Lars? http://www.talitha-g.com/main.php |

What!? No smoking room? Pish, tosh.
Now, that's a gentleman's yacht.
And, what a great presentation--first class.

| Severe surge and flooding in Europe?
I saw the Talitha G webcam and saw her but what I saw was that the port she is in has water a good few meters higher than where it should be. The tide level is virtually at the feet of the shoreside cranes and on the dockside. If this rises significantly higher, TG will have to move or she will probably float onto the dockside. The surge is really bad on her webcam.

Hi,
There was a large tidal surge in Nthn Europe yesterday.
According to a newspaper report read yesterday The Port of Rotterdam gates were closed from Thursday night, the Thames Barrier was closed early yesterday.

Thanks Yachtluver,
I have Talitha's webcam in the background on my PC and have been watching the rise with interest. I don't think she will foat onto the dock though as she has anchors out too. The webcam is still stuck on an image from yesterday morning ,so you can still see the effect of the flooding if you haven't had a chance yet. The east coast of the UK got a hammering from the surge and many people were evacuated from their homes overnight, but the flood defences held and there was very little damage.

So what has happened about the tide in Europe, is it back to normal? I have not heard anything since so I am just querying.

Hi,
I have a newspaper extract of what went on in the Weser River home to Lurssen and the Abeking and Rasmussen yards. I will e mail it to and ask Carl to resize and post it as I can't seem to get it down to below 100kb.
It seems there was some sort of malfunction in this area with the local sewers and many places were flooded although their watertight doors held the water came shooting up out of the toilets.

Regarding the Talitha G, We all should know that she is currently under works of heavy refit. She will have new funnels as well as a number of other modifications. I am not sure if others have seen her present state on her webcam but she is de-funneled for lack of a better word. http://www.talitha-g.com/webcam.php |

| Update
Well, time for an update. The 75 year old yacht has finished her heavy refit and is now out. The old lady is now known as Talitha and not Talitha G. She looks in fine splendour and her webcam on the website shows a pic of her laying alongside.
You can also check the yacht's blog to see what they have been up to. http://www.mytalitha.com/webcam.php |

Hi,
I don't think that is a fresh image at all.
I clicked on return to main gallery and then on the webcam and got the same picture, ( bloke with trolley in foreground)plus it doesn't look like anywhere in Europe

Hi,
I just clicked on the web cam link and got just the same picture so I guess I was right last month when I said it was not a fresh Image.
Today it is still the same picture as shown above.
