Big, angry seas compilation

How did these videos get shot?
Probably been around before but this "big wave/angry sea" compilation remains awesome: En un mar picado las Imágenes de este video son Impresionantes - YouTube

Cheers, Richard.

Very exciting video!!
Kind of reminds me of the morning, about 2 years ago, I was going from the Middle Channel out onto Lake St. Clair. I was going to cross the lake and upon hitting the main water got into a following sea of about 4-6 foot waves. The little F32 Trojan is a very broaching hull and it keeps you on your toes. What would normally take about 45 minutes to cross took about 3 hours. My 2 daughters were glued to the flybridge seats and never said a word. My little seafarers.

The last part with the navy ship climbing that wave, and finding fresh air on the other side. Bet they were glad when it calmed down.

Cheers, Richard.
Makes you respect the Ocean, those that go to sea each day and especially the many that went before without lifeboats, rescue even engines ........just a yearning to go to sea!

So how did the video get shot? Helicopters? Satellite? Animation?
I've ruled out another ship and satellites.
I figure good animation or a bunch of crazy chopper pilots.

It's not just the ocean that can get gnarly. Lakes can get pretty bad also. The Great Lakes are notorious for dangerous conditions at times. Even smaller lakes can be a handful.

I remember when I was a kid my father took us out on Cayuga Lake in conditions similar to Capt Doug described. We had a 23 foot Chris-Craft and we did about the same thing the destroyer in the video did. Buried the bow and then caught major air. What made it worse is that it was raining like heck and we had to rescue a pontoon boat that lost its engine. By the time we made it to the docks everybody was soaked to the bone.

Cape Horn?

A friend sent this video to me with below comments. Is this really The Cape?

"Cape Horn at the southern tip of the South American continent,
There are a few places I'd rather not be, this is one!
No wonder so many ships are lost going around the cape!"
