The coming of power and sail multihulls?

I think this is an interesting thing to note. Most owners generally opt for the monohull platform when building their new yacht whether motor or sail. However, over the last few years we have been seeing more Power Cats. Abeking and Rasmussen had their big cat, "Silver Cloud", of course Sunreef with their new Power Cats 2010 and 2012 variants and of course their well-known sailing Cats.

More recently we have had, "Adastra", a power trimaran. There's been "Phatsara" and now another power Cat, "Zenith". Is this a new trend in the last few years?

Not to be picky but there is quite a design and performance difference between a catamaran and a SWATH design (Small Waterplane Area Twin Hull) like "Silver Cloud".

Alright 'roundthehorn, yes I understand, I wasn't getting all technical, I just meant from the standpoint of the platform being used, two hulls.
