Sorry to tell you this, but Steven Spielberg didn't invent Star Wars. George Lucas did.

So sorry! Thanks for bringing that to my attention.

Being friends I hope George gets to travel on Seven Seas at some point to see what I think he has helped to inspire.

To me the design of her superstructure somewhat resembles the shapes of some of the star ships in Lucas' films.

They did work together on the first two Raiders of the Lost Ark movies as I recall. Most likely given their friendship, George has spent quite a bit of time on Seven Seas.

George wrote and produced all four Indiana Jones movies while Steven directed them. They both have been friends for many years. I think I read somewhere that Steven directed the scenes of the duel between Darth Sidious and Yoda while George directed the duel between Obi-wan and Anakin in the Star Wars: The Revenge of the Sith movie.

Anyway, the Seven Seas is one of my favorite yachts. It's strikingly beautiful to say the least. So thank you again for those pictures.

What we are talking about is really not so far fetched. With world wide piracy unfortunately on the rise I think there will be more yachts being equipped like Roman's.

Considering Steven invented Star Wars there is no telling what may lay underneath that sheep's skin.

Two pools and helos pads? A mini sub? A phalanx point defense system, and something to keep the Paparazzi at bay?

Geeze, why didn't he just buy an old Sovremenny class destroyer, and modify it? It probably would've been cheaper!

I'm hoping somebody can give me a brief education here.

I've been watching the Fort Lauderdale webcam over the last few days. I watched Seven Seas motor smartly past the 17th street bridge and maneuver cleanly to the seawall under her own helm control. Abut the same time I saw Pegasus being dragged backwards via 3 tugs through the bridge opening.

Earlier today I saw Pegasus return... meet up with the 3 tugs again.... and proceed through the bridge.

Is the use of the "tugs" a personal preference on the part of the captain.. or are there other factors differentiating the way these two ships are handled?

Thanks!

Hi,

I have seen Pegasus manoeuvre in tight quarters before so I assume it either has some problems with some of its gear - engine or thruster or maybe there is a relief Captain who was erring on the side of caution and asked for tug assistance.

My little boat has been up and down the new river a bunch on her own. The last move my captain wanted to use a tug. The reason was that there was lots of traffic and we had to be out of are space early in the morning and at that time there was a strong current. I agreed with captain to pay a little tow bill then have a possible accident. (during boat show move day)

The use of tugs in Fort Lauderdale is the preference of the captain and owner. There are no regulations requiring the use of tugs here although I have heard that in certain situations insurance companies require the use of tugs. This is particularly true with navigating the narrow and twisting New River from the Intracoastal West to the many yacht service yards and marinas about 5 miles upstream.

Love Google Earth with the MarineTraffic plugin

Take a look at this video and you might understand why many captains do decide to err of the side of caution.

Actually, Joseph Campbell helped Lucas interpret an amalgam of mythological heroic journeys into the one that became Star Wars. Lucas, unlike Spielberg on some of his projects, has never been so bold as to suggest it was his own.

The pilot boat is passing her on starboard just after picking up the pilot from her swim platform.
