Last week, a friend was headed back to Greenwich CT from North port, NY.
His boat was passed by something he described as "a three masted sailboat about 100' long which was doing 40 + knots & belching black smoke". He said he cruises at 25kts & this thing FLEW past him with a 6' wake.
I asked how much he had had to drink before leaving the bar that night & he said it was only 10 a.m. & usually waits till at least 11;)
    So, what boat was this?

MITseaAh comes to mind, minus a couple of masts. Maybe it was 11:00 AM...? ;)

Unbelievable...A boat like this must be known on YF :p

Or it was an very, very secret project at sea trials. Maybe MITseaAH with 2 sailing dinghies on deck? An powerful shadow boat as an sailing boat transporter? ;)

    Hi,

If it wasn't the mushrooms, maybe it was the morning tea - "brownies" :D

    sounds a bit OTT ... 100' doing 40+ knots ...

altho i saw a vid of a 140' flybridge cruiser that supposedly does 70 knots ...

info abt it is here on the forum ...

    doesn't have 3 masts tho ...
