Derecktor Cakewalk Yacht Launched!

While driving down the road yesterday & was passing our local ship yard. Guess what just came out of the building? It's Cakewalk!!!!! I called my source & he said they were doing some testing & continuing work. The official launch festivities will be later in Sept/Oct & I have an invite! I took a couple of pictures from across the harbor but I'll have many more when I go to the christening.

Thanks Dave.

I think she looks great, except. There is just something that doesn't quite look right to me. Not sure what that is yet.

I will certainly be looking forward to seeing more pics though.

I think she is magnificent! It would have been nice to do something different with the upper level around the forward window area. Something about the sides looks a little off. I LOVE the sheer line!
With that being said, I design & build very large custom homes & the final say always comes from the owner. If he likes it that way, so be it. She's beautiful & a wonderful achievement. Hats of to Derector for putting it all together & congrats to Cakewalk's owner for for following through with his dream!!

What a nice yacht! Can't wait for some more photos. I always love Heywood designed yachts.

M/Y Cakewalk continues her fitting out at the Derecktor Yard in Bridgeport, CT. Workers buzz around her like bees, complete with protective coverings on their shoes. Her superstructure dwarfs the workers as well as any other vessels in the vicinity. Official unveiling will be at FLIBS I'm told.

Great pictures guys. These are the first pictures I have seen so far that really gives a feel of what this vessel looks like in real circumstances.

Thanks Tom, your photos bring her to life, the details are going on and unveiled, she will look pretty good. One question? What is behind that drop down door on the uppermost deck?

There's plastic sheeting hanging there so can't see what's in it. I wonder if that is where the name board will go. Or maybe a top deck balcony. Those sat domes are huge.

Well Tom, the fly through video at Derecktor's site shows that her name plates will be directly aft of the bridge wing pods, So I do not go with the plates going on the 'mystery door'. Maybe liferaft canisters will be behind those doors?

I see what you mean regarding the sign. But not sure if it's for life raft canisters as they need to float free from a yacht if submerged, correct? May not work behind a door. But then again I am expecting some very cool things once Cakewalk makes it to the public eye.

Well quite a few yachts carry their raft canisters behind doors now so I do not know...
