| 2009 Ft. Lauderdale International Boat Show Pre-Show Cruise & Comments
As a prelude to the Ft. Lauderdale International Boat Show, we took a cruise Sunday, October 25th to capture the chaos of yachts battling for berths. We'll post more pics as our schedules allow, but for now, enjoy this peak at superyachts playing bumper boats...
1. Aurora just pulled in
2. Can you identify the yacht from the mast?
3. This trio has Sea Bowld on the left and Nice-N-Easy on the right. Not sure of the center floater.

The mast belongs to the beautiful Christensen "Odessa". Can't mistake her! The center floater looks like "Marathon".

Tom took the picture of Aurora while he was onboard the Pacific Mariner 85, just as they were backing down the slip next to her. He was onboard the PM-85 for an intracoastal "sea trial", of sorts. A full YF review is forthcoming. That's Tom on the aft deck, shooting us. It just occurred to me, I've never seen a picture of Tom without a camera covering his face!

Turning back the clock, before we arrived at Ft. Lauderdale's biggest dock, we were offshore racing with "Charisma", a 120' Kaiserwerft. This pic was taken while we were cruising at about 30 knots, a credit to Canon's image stabilization...

As we arrived in Port Everglades, a battle was taking place between David and Goliath, or was it a game of Tug-A-War?

Inside the Port, we found "Spherefish, a 2002 86' Hatteras Enclosed Bridge looking very much like the 90's era boats we've all come to love, void of the late model drops that bring tears to a grown man's eyes.

Passing by Tom Gonzales's sandbox, we got a looky-loo at "Linda Lou", a 197' Lurssen launched in 2006. Too many L's in that sentence!

Also berthed at TG's box, the 177' Benetti "Starfire". Can't remember the exact build date, but it was sometime in the late 80's...

Standing as a testament to Tom Lewis's two year tenure, the last 120' Broward ever built being preserved by the shade of the 17th Street Causeway bridge...

Built in the late 90's by Abeking & Rasmusen, this is "Ultima III" displaying the Ultra-modern... rusty old anchor!

Deuce in the quintet of Staluppi's go-fast stable, this is the Diaship built (Heesen), 116' "Moonraker. The fastest yacht of her time at 66 knots, she was built to outrun the dastardly Hugo Drax.

Looking like a dirty little girl with gensoot-graffiti tagging her port, this is Oceanco's 182' Lady Christine taking up residence at the Pelican Bar. We're hoping she moves soon, so patrons of the bar can watch the post-Boat Show Parade on Tuesday.

Taking up position across from her sistership, this is the 196' Oceanco "Pegasus", sporting an all white hull now.

Backing up Pegasus is the 204' Feadship "Fortunato"...
