Not all the wood on Sycara is real. For example, this mast was 'carved from carbon' sorta speak, then given a wood faux finish...

The interior is even more spectacular than the exterior, which for me, was hard to believe. Burger has done a remarkable job of making a classic interior look current. The helm, in contrast to the era-specific interior, is up-to-date...

These are the teaser shots. The full review will follow in the coming weeks. I posted the official PR last night with a couple of running shots, located here... http://www.yachtforums.com/forums/ya...l-cruiser.html |

| Sat Domes
Looking at your running shots, a question came to mind about the sat domes. They seem to be very low and somewhat obstructed by the runabout and the big crane. Are they mounted on telescoping masts that can be raised when needed?

All I can say is that this boat is fantastic! Even though i'm young and never experienced classic cruisers of the 20s and 30s some have survived like the "Haida G" and "Talitha" and since then a few new ones have been purpose built like the Proteksan & Turquoise "Anatolia" and of course Yantai Raffles Corsair "Nero". It is boats like these that really suck me into liking those of the classic fashion because I never liked them at first. Now "Sycara IV" has taken it to another level!!! Lovely work Carl!
A side question does she have anything to do with "Sycara V" by Nobiskrug?

Good eye and a good question! Here's a close up of the pedestal, but I don't think it reveals any answers. I'll ask the yard next week.

Same owner Ron. And not the first review we've done on one of his boats. Here's a link to Sycara III, an Oceanfast... http://www.yachtforums.com/forums/oc...light=mercedes |

Thanks for the close up. And you're right. It doesn't seem to show anything. I can understand how the owners/designer might not want to ruin the classic lines with too many modern structures. Radar is a necessity, sat comm is more of a luxury.
And the transom gate/passerelle combination is a very elegant solution, too!

Incredible shots! I can't wait to see more photos of this beautiful yacht.
Burger have truely been on a roll lately, with Mirgab V (which is on the market as we speak), Ingot, and Sycara. All incredible yachts and amazing attention to detail.

Coming down the backstretch on our review of Sycara. Chuck and I have about 70 hours into this. Still finalizing last minute details. Should go live in a day or two...

Thanks PropBet! With Sycara finished, I need to thank some people... - Thanks to Burger's engineers and craftsmen for doing something far more complicated than most can imagine. Trying to engineer and build an old school boat using today's technologies is a lot harder than it looks.
- Special thanks to Burger's marketing team, specifically Ron Cleveringa for putting up with my relentless calls and requests for images & information. He spent an entire morning showing me Burger's operations and touring Sycara when he should have been packing to catch a flight to Florida that afternoon for a broker's conference.
- Thanks to Neil Rabinowitz for his outstanding photography. Neil had a difficult environment to work in. Sycara was far from finished during Neil's photo-shoot. Dozens of workers were onboard and cleared one room at a time so he could set the stage for the shots. In some cases, the images were P-Shopped for effect, such as adding a scenic background, when the actual shot was on the Manitowac River, with an industrial background.
- Very special thanks to YF's Chuck Gnaegy for finding the fitting words that give me a basis in which to expand on. Together, I believe the reviews we do are the best in yachting, but I'm a little prejudice.
- Special thanks to Lars and Kevin for being here and looking after YF. Kevin has recently started proofing reviews for us, which helps me tremendously. I'm juggling so many things I can't spell anymore.
- And finally, thanks to everyone at YF for being patient and keeping the momentum going.

At least your fingers won't smash the wrong key on a full sized keyboard, No more excuses for spelling, unless typing from the digital touch pad of the Iphone where the fatty fingers experience problems relaying the end result from the brain! Good job Carl..lol

And, with a little help from an online tutorial, here's an age appropriate image of the gorgeous Sycara.
Congrats to all involved for a great walk through a beautiful vessel.
