The Monk 36 is not very large but she makes up for this lack in size with a comfortable interior. The interior spaces are thoroughly clad with mid-toned and semi-gloss wood, resulting in warm and inviting areas. The saloon is located on the Main-Deck and has a large L shaped cushion settee with a double hinged wooden table to service the space. To the fore in a small corner on the starboard side of the saloon is the indoor navigation station. While the saloon is located on the port side, the galley is set on the starboard side and more or less shares the space.
The galley is very utilitarian in nature. With its L shape, the galley matches the profile of the seating in the saloon on the opposite side. However, in this L shaped format, space is made available for counter tops, four-station cook top, refrigerator, double sink and a plethora of drawer and cabinet storage. On either end of this central space comprising the saloon and galley is the accommodation.
The accommodation on the Monk 36 consists of a master stateroom and V berth guest region in the bow, both on the lower level of the deck. In the bow, there is a V-berth and is given this name because it takes the shape and contours of the bow of the yacht. The space is not the largest but it is very functional with hanging locker and drawers on the starboard side and ensuite on the port side. The ensuite comes complete with single marble vanity, hand-held shower and commode.
On the other hand, on the aft of the saloon one will find the master stateroom. By far, the larger of the two accommodations, the master stateroom is characterized by a large queen-sized double bed. There is an ensuite facility with marble vanity, commode, draw and rack for bathroom towels and such. There is also a stand up shower. On the port side of the master there are 9 feet hanging lockers and 8 feet of drawers on the starboard side, creating plenty of storage. From inside to the outside the Fly-Bridge awaits.
On the Fly-Bridge, one will find a non-skid deck, open navigation console with bimini cover and lockers for extra storage. Sturdy hand-rails also are evident, giving a sense of safety and assurance. There is the mast to the aft of the Fly-Bridge which holds the radar unit as well as a rear crane.
The performance of this vessel is noteworthy. Not only big vessels have noteworthy performance packages. The Monk 36 is powered by a Cummins 220 HP diesel engine. This engine pushes her at a maximum speed of about 12 knots and a slower cruising speed of 10 knots. The Monk 36 weighs a light 21, 500 lbs in dry mode and with an onboard capacity of over 300 gallons, a range of over 600 NM!
