Midnight Lace Yachts

Has anyone heard anything good, bad or indifferent about Midnight
Lace boats? In particular the 52 Midnight Lace.

I was involved a bit with the re-incarnation of the Midnight Lace in its new wider beam version. The old 44 only had an 11 foot beam and the 52 was only 14 feet. That was OK back in the 80's, but buyer's did not like the lack of space.
Tom Fexas always considered the Lace his favorite design, and it was that design that boosted his career. He wanted to get a new one himself, but even he thought he needed to increase the beam. He came up with a design and hull #1 was sold. Unfortunately as is common with any hull #1, there were many delays in the completion. When it finally arrived, there were a lot of small items that the builder should have done a better job on, and the buyer was unhappy. He would not allow the boat to go to any boat shows which made getting hull #2 sold very difficult.
The next boat built was under the direction of its owner, an experienced marine industry veteran, and the boat came out much better. I was onboard that boat a few times and it looks good. The builder is Bluewater in Taiwan, and they have been in business for a long time and each new one should be better than the last.
