| Marlena
Marlena was built by trinity and started out as a 124' sport fisher outa long island i believe and a shambles of a job they did in the engine room, she had twin 3500hp paxman main engines cruised @ 26knts. A sudie bought her in 2004, sent her to Cartahena, spain where we (i was cheif engineer on her at the time) cut the back of her and all three decks and extended here to 136.8'. She also had a complete refit inside as well as the crew quarters. The shipyard did a **** job of it but now she is in the Med and looks fantastic.

This is my favorite Trinity built (refit) fishing venue. http://www.yachtpangaea.com/
184’ of floating opulence but unlike some of the other boats previously mentioned, this one can launch a real fishing vessel that’s agile enough to actually catch fish. It’s easier on the eyes than some of those star wars jobs too. Call me old fashioned but I really do not care for that euro style thing at all.
As a fisherman, I don’t see how one could do much with 100’+/- boats. It would take a day to turn the thing to chase down a fish.

If memory serves correctly, Marlena was originally launched at 98'. She was designed in part by her original owner Sam Gershowitz. Sam owns the Star Island Yacht Club in Montauk, New York. A few seasons after the initial launch she was refitted to 126'. I'm not certain of the details of when or who completed the refit, but I'm certain she was originally 98'. Marlena was the talk of the harbor when she arrived in Montauk. No one had seen a sport fisher that large before and appeared monolithic while perched at the end of her custom redesigned slip at Star Island. I remember the factoid that made all the locals stammer wasn't her speed or her displacement but rather that she could produce 400 pounds of ice an hour!
Since her sale, Sam has downgraded (relatively) to 64' Viking. Rumor was she was too large to really be an effective fishing boat. Many of the locals were glad to see her go, but I was always awestruck when I caught the site of her heading out from the jetti or returning after spending several days in the canyons.

Not thrilled with the changes especially on the second level. That looks like an interesting transom to fish from. At this point they might as well dump the outriggers and just call her a sport yacht.

There is a jacuzzi on the aft of the second level now since the extension that is why it looks so 'confused'. But talking about sportfishers, what became of the "Mary P". She should have been delivered by months now and I have not seen any pictures or information at all on her.

Interesting, but not impressed. I think Marlena has it hands down on beauty, and those sat domes just look so wrong.

hi
i thought Mary P would have fun the beauty prize... she has a nice sheer, a bit of style with the windows, a transom u could back into a swell with, and even a bit of flare on the bow. Marlena looks more like as u say NYCAP 'sport yacht'.
which brings me to a new point. the SF boats over say 100', are they used for fishing, or more of a mothership roll? or put it this way, when does a SF get to big?
far

I'd say these are about there with maybe an extra 50 or 60 feet, but hey, some say you can never be big enough. Although Marlena's last owner (DK if she's been sold yet) is an avid fisherman he has a 60 for that. Word out at Montauk was that Marlena was a landmark (as in 'I'm a 1/4 mi west of Marlena, where are you?' 'About a 1/2 mile to her east') as she'd sit out flounder or striper fishing. She's a thing of beauty though.
