Now that is a sports fisher! She looks real nice....however, i am not very knowledgeable as it comes to sports fishers but as a novice i can truly say it looks real good i like it....i might even try my hand at building a model of it but i would have to wait on deck plans and the works! I'm trying to finish up my model *Let It Be* a Heesen 3700.

While "Marlena" may have been built around 126' she was extended somewhere in the Med. last year.

Good point Rene. If we were to include motoryachts with extended cockpits and fighting chairs, Marlena might be relegated to chasing minnows. (no offense to YF member Minnow!) But in the tradition of classic sportfish style yachts, I think Marlena is the largest... even if she's not a "Lady". Not sure why I remembered her as having the curvy gender prefix, I may have been thinking of Lady Linda by Trinity? Too many boats, too many names… and my central processing unit is antiquated.

Beautiful!!! Considering my 50 Bertram trade in, how much do you suppose the monthly payment would be? I hope it wouldn't be more than $173.50
I'll take two please!

"Mary P" and "Lady Ana"

Nice lines on that Trinity. It occurred to me that she's probably the only sportfisherman whose sheer size dominates her tuna tower.

Regarding the Denison (not to pick on Frank's kids, but what other manufacturer saw such a large percentage of her builds grace Davy Jone's locker?) and the myriad stories concerning her demise, the most credible one I heard came from a captain buddy of mine who was in the same yard as "Lady Ana" when work was being done. Seems she was a bit heavy aft, and her scuppers had a tendency to wash the cockpit when not underway. They "fixed" this by either closing off or greatly reducing the scupper size.

A couple of breaking following seas, not unknown out in the Canyons, and we might be havin' a problem, Houston.

Anyone else hear something similar?

I made mention of the same in an e-mail yesterday. The original "Mary P" (the "P" is for Pennington), is an 87' Queenship. The owners wanted a flybridge *on top* of the skylounge, which made for a skyscraping sportfish. Gorgeous boat that received well deserved coverage at the time and showcased Queenship's craftsmenship.

The new Mary P strikes a nice balance, but the side profile above (^) was preliminary and it's not the final design. The rendering below is closer to the finished product. It doesn't have a tower... it has a partial hardtop over the flybridge.

According to the press release, the new Mary P will launch sometime in 2008. The water level in Gulfport is expected to rise when she splashes.

Certainly the hardtop makes more sense. A base is needed for that nest of antennas/scanners and to add another control station yet higher up would invite a nosebleed!

Marlena was on the fuel dock at Bahia Mar, less than 3 months ago. It is one of my favorite boats. One of my old skips ran it, he said it could run in the real nasty stuff. Supposedly a middle eastern fellow bought it and stretched it 9-10 feet.

Mary P has room for only three crew??? Seems like a very small amount. Also the release said 125 hp bowthruster. Thats a ton of hp!!! That would be a sweet boat to drive, you could walk it off the dock with 30 kts of wind on your beam. Not to mention the huge props it is probably swinging. It still has less windage than most tri deck yachts, think about the 122' tri deck PJs or even a 130 Westport.

The World's Largest Sportfish!

Well, we've succeeded in drawing another lurker out of the woodwork! I'm about to bring you the first details and drawings on something that’s out of this world. It's not just big… it’s planetary. Its gravitational pull will turn Mary P and Marlena into satellites.

Oh yeah… and it might make you believe in aliens.
