Dream Boats?

Just for the fun of it, what if you won the lottery or something and had $3 mil or so to spend on a boat? Rybovich anyone? Merrit? Carolina custom? Or maybe just a nice new Viking/Hat/Bert? I know its not strictly a sportfish, but the new 60' Huckins in this month's Yachting magazine really tightens my lines! Add a flybridge and an extended cockpit, maybe triple IPS power... Yum!

dream boat around the 3m mark... i couldnt go past a Garlington or a Rybovich. both are really stunning IMO.
but 'the dream' it would have to get designed, 90 meters would be an ideal size... everything out there is custom designed and built, so not really suited to my likes. cool thread thou.

My dream boat is a Roscioli Donzi. I'm between the 65' and the 73' (80' would be too large for me). I've loved that boat since I first saw one in 1992, and almost bought one in 1994, but it didn't pull through. I haven't had any other opportunity like the one I almost had in 1994, so I haven't accomplished my dream of getting a Donzi.....at least not yet.

A Huckins loses a certain je ne sais quois when they get too vertical. That new jet drive model is really something else, though. They certainly know how to build a fine yacht. I'm sure old Frank is rolling in his grave over that transom!

My dream boat would be a modern version of the 1955 Huckins Seafarer 64 my family once had. Just the right size and layout for a family, and easy to handle without needing crew. A very spacious, efficient, and comfortable boat. While I enjoy the notion of the romance of a wooden boat, the reality is quite different.

Rybos are my lust boat, but not my relationship boat. I love the lines, the performance, the heritage... but the use of space for something that would 99% of the time be used as a cruiser makes it impractical. (That's a Rybo in my avatar)

hi Seafarer

i have a Marlin magazine dating back to 1994 with picture of your avatar rybo pic (im pretty sure). she must of just hit the water doing some sea trials, shes pretty bair, theres no bow sprit, tower, doesnt even have a flybridge roof. its a 3/4 front pic of the boat doing about 30kts... she just looks stunning. sorry im a sucker for beauty and not prac. i google a Huckins, nice boat, and nice lines. either way i would be happy.
Manny, the Donzi is a very nice boat, the lines keep getting better and better as the new ones come out. im sure youll get your Donzi.

Nah, I have picked up a boat or two at N.L. and had no complaints.

These days they are jammed and boats are shoe-horned and ignored for sure, but the price should be just fine...

i would be interested to know which boat u would choose, u have around 3m to chuck into that hole in the ocean, and the other half doesnt mind what u get, what would u get?

I wouldn't own a boat if you gave it to me for free. That's what happens when you turn a hobby and passion into a job. When I step on board I'm just waiting for what will break next or what fool will do what under my bow. Maybe I'd get a kayak.

I just renewed my license. When I computed my sea time I had something like 700 days (and that's not time sitting at the dock). Not bad when you have a 3 month high season and about 6 months total. When I get a day off, the last thing I want to do is be on a boat. Of course I'm addicted though, so when I quit this work the first thing I'll have to do is buy a boat.
