Castlerock,
My point guy, conchwood, told me this week that Legacy is still anchored in Key West Harbor. Aqua Village may have been disrupted from the storms as it is in a new location and missinga few houseboats. Planning on getting down there after FLIBS.
Here's a shot from earlier this year.

The keel shouldn't be that much trouble. I'm sure she's not stuck as I can see her swinging on her anchor in Key West Harbor.

Ken,
I was in Key West a few weeks ago getting an update for my story. Legacy is not stuck where she is, but with the keel down, Halmos is concerned that if he tried to motor out, he would hit bottom or an obstruction with it and potentially be into another problem. He wants to get the keel up in order to make safe transit to Tampa, where the yacht would be hauled and the keel fixed.
The engines are running on Legacy, and Halmos' intention is to run her on her own power. I'm assuming he would have a chase boat run also for safety purposes.

UPDATE - Just spoke with Halmos and the keel is up a sufficient height to make safe passage. He has to iron out some paperwork before hand, so you very well might see Legacy leave Key West this month. Stay tuned...

I went out for a look this afternoon and the crew told me that the centerboard has been lifted. It looks like they used brute force with chain and come-alongs under running from gunnel to gunnel under the keel.

Halmos said the Perini folks came back with a solution, and with some modifications were able to get it lifted. I'm told that it's in place by a series of chains, to be sure it doesn't slip again.

40 tons. That's some brute force.

Has anyone heard which yard in Tampa she is going to? I can't think of any yard around here off the top of my head that she could fit at or be lifted out at.

Brandon,
No decision as to which yard yet. Still looking it over. I heard that there is at least one lift in the area that can pull Legacy out, but not certain. Are there any commercial yards in the area? How about a dry dock?
