Through Google you will find plenty of information. I was borrowing the drawing and this picture from this site; http://www.gdnp.nl/bigclassyachts/ADIX/adix.htm

VERY nice additions Antonio!

The diversity in designs showcased here really gives you a greater appreciation of these works of art, not only for their beauty, but for the engineering involved and the skill required to sail them.

I'm ashamed that my time spent onboard sailboats is limited. My only sailboat was a 14' Hobie Cat, that I kept on the beach in Lauderdale by the Sea, Florida. I was 15 years old at the time and my interest moved to cars and girls when I got my driver's license shortly thereafter.

In reflecting on that period, I should remember things like... the first time I flew the cat on one sponson, or days when the wind was calm and I laid on the trampoline without a care in the world. Unfortunately, the things I DO recall were... dragging that darn thing up the beach after a long day of sailing!

Whatever you wanna call 'em... blow-boats, wind-chasers, sheet-ships or boom-boats... you gotta love 'em!

Swan 651/13

My offshore sailing experience comes mainly from this extended Swan 651, 72 feet long. I sailed her when new in the mid eighties and she was considered a big boat then. All sails with hydraulic furling, Rondal for the fore sails and Reckman for the main in-mast furling. No problems to set and reef sails singlehanded.
Longest trip was Grand Canaria-Madeira-The Azores-Hamble-Kiel-Stockholm, a five week experience.
Today the boat is chartering in the Baltic and in the Caribbean. Maybe you have seen her, the name is Sway

I love sailing yachts.
I never had a big one like the pictures shown in this forum, but I had a lot of fun with my boats.
Currently I have no boat and have to charter a bareboat when I want to sail.
I had 3 sail cruiser boats, 23, 27 and 38 ft.
Most of the time I sailed near Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, specialy in the beautiful bays near Angra dos Reis and Ilha Grande (Baia de Sepetiba, Baia da Ribeira and Baia da Ilha Grande).
In the attached photo I was towing children in the RIB (not shown here), in a very calm afternoon.

Ilha das Palmeiras

The attached photo shows one of the hundreds of beautiful places found in the islands in the bays near Angra dos Reis (Brazil), where I use to sail.

Since we are into the not so BIG boats right now, I had a picture like yours from my first trip on my first sailing boat. A 31 foot half tonner. This is in the middle of the Baltic Sea, no wind and I jumped into the dinghy for a while...

Good times

AMG,

I guess that you had a lot of fun with your 31' sail boat.
