New Design: René van der Velden - 75m "Arrow"

René van der Velden Presents “Arrow”
75-Meter Corporate Yacht designed for Russian waterways

Amersfoort, The Netherlands: René van der Velden Design announces the completion of the basic design for “Arrow,” a ground-breaking concept yacht specifically shaped for a unique segment of the growing Russian pleasure market. Developed in collaboration with Nakhimov Yachts of Moscow, “Arrow” is configured to serve as a corporate meeting place, a base of business entertainment, and as a “professional cruiser” for Russian entrepreneurs and their foreign or domestic guests. “Arrow,” to be built in steel with an aluminum superstructure, is designed to make full use of Russia’s enormous network of navigable inland waterways, which (including the Volga, Don, and Dnieper Rivers) total some 100,000 scenic kilometers.

With an overall length of 75 meters, the beam has been limited to just 11.60 meters for easy passage in the close quarters of rivers and canals. The water draft is just 2.60 meters to extend cruising potential into shallow tributaries. Equally important, the profile has been kept extremely low, with a masts-down air draft of just 8.5 meters, so “Arrow” can pass under the many Russian waterway bridges.
“Arrow,” drawn by van der Velden in an exciting contemporary style, features complete facilities for business meetings, including a cinema room for film, video, or PowerPoint presentations. Amenities also include a full spa, with a large waterfall-fed pool, whirlpool bath, Turkish bath, sauna, showers, and dressing rooms. The spa adjoins swim platforms aft and at the sides. Together with the saloons, the complete professional galley, and spacious exterior decks, “Arrow” provides a vast area for indoor/outdoor relaxing gatherings and entertainment, following intensive business activities.

For longer cruises “Arrow” has belowdecks accommodations for ten guests in five large double staterooms with ensuite bathroom facility, plus a double “owners” suite with separate full-width living room on the main deck. Crew quarters for thirteen are centrally located to ease traffic flow and separate crew activities from guests. A broad central guest stairway spirals around an elevator, both of which serve the bridge, main, and lower accommodations decks. A helipad is set on the yacht’s highest surface, above the bridge, to maximize clearance and safety during frequent flights to deliver passengers or take side excursions. “Arrow” is powered by twin Caterpillar 3512B diesels, for a service speed of 16 knots. She is classed by Lloyd’s Register: G6 Yacht(P) MCA: Large Yacht Code (LY2).
