Hi, I just got my first Roamer. It is a 1964, 32 footer. First job will be to clean, scrape and paint the bilge. Glad it is only in the 90s here, otherwise that job might not be so fun There is a little bit of surface rust here and there, but it doesn't appear to be too bad. What primer and paint would you recommend?
Orestes I had the same issue and I was pressed for time. I had standing water and oil and I could not unplug the bilge plug either, but I had no rust. i scraped the old silver compound , clean, soaped and dried the steel and spread tones of silver Rustoleum to match. Not a problem since.
Roamer No problem.. my boat came from Port Clinton Ohio, her original name was The Golden Rule. . Working-out OK, striping and upgrading interior, exterior to black/red nothing drastic. I moved the galley up behind the wheel to open the space for an electrical fire place down in the berths, and open a doubler half moon entry to the V berth, the old one looked like the John Locker's box. I also found a parts shop to support the old engines ( 7650 S. Channel Dr. Harsens Island, MI 48028 810-748-3600 Robert Henkel). in case I need to rebuilt one or both.
I have been using the POR15 on lots of rusty stuff in my engine room and on my engine. It's a great product.
