1/4 round replacement

The 1/4' round between the deck and the fiberglass has multiple leaks that I have been trying to seal with limited success. It appears I will have to replace it.

What type of wood is preferred? Would a polymer be a potential material in place of wood? What would be the best sealant?

I am planning to do this while it is under cover this winter.
Thanks as always.
John

Caledonia

I used mahogany, shaped to angle between deck and cabin fiberglass.

I screwed into both deck and cabin surfaces and caulked with 3m 4000, liberally applied then extra cleaned off. Seems to have worked
