1959 roamer express 28

good job this is quite a rare animal thy are beauties....
- hull numbers tend to on the edge of the starboard engine hatch (structure not hatch itself) #s tend also to be on the mohogony cover and door to the cabin or various doors check the edges and finally it should be stamped on thesteel on the hull under the port engine or on the wall in front of the port engine.
Not sure about the 28s in 1959 I have experience with 62s to 68 that is where the numbers are.
let us know when you find it it will be usefull for the survivor list.
The number should be ROX 28 1xx if it really is 1958-59 or ROX 28 0xx if earlier that 1958.

Ivan, that's a truly lovely boat. Is that a recent pic or one from years ago?

Just started restoration on 1959/59 25' Sportsman Roamer. Interesting project as it is ALL original, if you do pick up the 28', keep me informed and we can trade notes

Roamer 28s

Posted a variety of brochure and owner photos.
Now, 28s were manufactured in both the original Roamer Boat Company design and CC's later "improved" variant.
Which is better - you be the judge.

PS - And who thinks 450hp in a 28' Sportsman is just too much?

Here is a pic of the 25' I am starting to restore. After much investigation, I have yet to see another one. It is #12 of 15 made in 1958/59. Twin K's.

in terms of design I personally the old fashioned Original Roamer design as oppose to the Chris craft redesign but both are really quite nice.

PS - Who else likes the "yacht-style" anchor system on this 28'? (sUwEET)

That anchor protruding through the hull has "Lake of the Ozarks, MO" cast right on the anchor. We are restoring that boat now. This is one of three 28' Express models I have seen on that lake. The other two were hardtop express models. One of them had this same anchor. They might have been installed by the same dealer? I don't no if the manufacturer originated here or if you could get personalized anchors for your body of water? The third 28' Express I know on this lake was restored by my parents and has not been seen since 1988.
