Found this listing on the Scruton Marine site here in Ontario Canada. (Google Scruton Marine). The boat apparently is in western Ontario which would put it between Buffalo / Detroit. Pics are included with the listing.

You got that right.
Unless somehow the price of aluminum/lb. has reached some extraordinarily high level, this owner needs to "get real".

Oddly enough, I e-mailed Scuton on this boat and received a reply yesterday. They were kind enough to send me a number of pictures that were "taken several years ago," and offered to put me in direct contact with the owner. Sounds like they are not really brokering it?

In any case, from what I can see, the boat is complete project. No pics of the machinery spaces or running gear, but the entire interior looks to need gutting, and all of the cockpit wood is in dire need of attention - looks like it has been stored without a cover, perhaps? If the owner cut $7-8K out of the asking price of $8400, it might be a decent project....

FWIW, the boat is in Lasalle, ON, south of Windsor.

Update - Scruton finally sent me a reply to my request for the owner's information:

I finally got in touch with the owner of this 1963 Chris Craft Roamer. Here is his reply:

"Boat is still on blocks. Motors are rough/bad. Wood on cabin is rotting. Boat is still available. We will take $4725.00. Boat is worth that in scrap at the moment."

Please let me know if you would like me to send you the name and contact information of the owner of this boat in order for you to ask you further questions, to arrange a time to inspect this vessel and you would purchase this boat directly from the owner.

Am I crazy in thinking that even at $4700 Canadian, it is WAY overpriced?

I just got a silver comet. I would like to ad a Wood windshield and a Wood Light pole Like the custom comets came with. Looking for any parts I can ad to the silver comet to spruce it up.

Anyone have any info where I may be able to come across something please email me.

I have not seen a custom or silver comet with a wooden windsheild, except for one that was a custom re-fit. All the comets have a aluminum windsheild. The silver has an anchor light attached to the windsheild, the custom has the mohogany mast staff in the center of the cabin deck. Other differences are the aluminum railing around the aft deck vs. the wood railing. From 62 to 63 the comets evolved from manual transmissions to hydraulic transmissions and from generators to altenators. They also changed color schemes from the traditional torquois blue cabin to an all white cabin with a torquois stripe. In 63, chris craft also changed from a small single front cabin window to a wider double window. I have both the 62 and 63 Roamer original brochures and would be happy to share color copies if you like. between brothers and sisters, we have 4 comets, three 1962's silvers and I am the lucky one with the 63 custom. There are also subtle changes in the deck that surrounds the cock pit. (wider on the 63's) there were quite a few options such as doors on the storage lockers in the cabin, optional hardtops and side railings from aft to bow. I will not pretend to be an expert. but if you are looking for upgrades, the center anchor mast is the most distiguishing charicteristic, along with the extruded stern aluminum railing (which I have never seen on any Roamer, except the custom comet.)
