    The best way to go depends a lot upon the type of vessel, the experience of the crew as well as the natural things like the waether and sea conditions.

    If I were you I would start by studying Pilot books for that region, pilot charts can tell you a lot about what to expect at what time of the year as far as average winds and currents go.

    I would have also thought that the route you are asking about is not that much of an unusual one for Durbanites to head east towards Australia.

    Do you belong to a local yacht club or similar where you can ask others face to face who have made this journey what experiences they had?
