PB Show

Revamped this year. Nice compact show. Big boats to the east, tenders, fish boats to the south and on the street. Smaller vendors scattered around.

Spent Fri and Sat at the show and then headed out of town on a biz trip, so just getting back to the ole computer. Let me drop a few pics on you to show that the show was more than a bunch of sidewalk hawkers.

Now that looks more like a boat show. Thanks Tom. Any word on attendance?

The 2011 PB Show is getting bigger & better. It’s noticeably larger in terms of attendance; the number of docks and the length of the boats. Superyachts have officially migrated to the Palm Beach Show too. Attendance was sparse on Thursday, but picked up Friday. The weekend was busy as expected, with a mix of reel types and the Palm Beach not-so-real types, which helps to keep bored brokers entertained.

Don’t let my comments be a barometer, but from what I could see the interest on the docks seemed to be focused on cruising yachts, raised pilot house boats, etc. Saw a few sportfish salesmen sitting idle, wondering if they brought the right bait. As I walked the docks, I overheard some numbers being tossed around between buyers and brokers, but can't say for sure that deals are being done.

I know Tom got a lot of shots over the weekend. He’s got a heavy travel schedule this week, so it may be a couple of days before he uploads his digital take on things. I came away from the show with a couple of front page, special features that I’m putting into YF’s schedule.

I received the Press Release this morning, but no mention of PB location...?

FERRETTI GROUP CEO SALVATORE BASILE SUDDENTLY PASSED AWAY
AFTER SUFFERING A HEART ATTACK

Forlì, 28th March 2011 – Ferretti Group CEO Salvatore Basile suddenly passed away yesterday after suffering a heart attack. He was 58.

The entire Ferretti Group team, Chairman Norberto Ferretti, the Board of Directors and the Executive committee, deeply shaken by his premature death, share the sorrow that Mrs Basile and family bear. He will always be remembered for the great love he had for his work, his strategic vision and strong, sensitive personality, qualities he managed to convey instantly to all Group employees, with enthusiasm, motivation and strength.

Salvatore Basile began his career in the late 70s working for CM-Carlo Miazzo, and going on to cover roles of increasing responsibility in the groups ZF, Saeco, Demm SpA, De Longhi and Baxi SpA. Lastly, in 2009 he was appointed CEO at Ferretti Group, where he superbly managed its reorganization and relaunch project.

Perfect weather, decent crowd and tons of inventory. I thought it was a good turnout for the Palm Beach Show. Haven't heard any "official" results, but I do know that there were plenty of offers flying around our location. Only time will tell.

I can't wait for some pictures. Was planning to stop over on my way to the DR. But we had a trade show that I needed to work our company booth at!

I prefer this show over miami or ftl. Just the right size, just the right people and a perfect atmosphere.

I had a friend there showing his Sabreline 47. I'll wait to see what he had to say about the show?
