THe Winterfest boat Parade was held on Dec 15 in Ft Lauderdale. New this year was the starting location, well up the New River. Had a vantage point near the TV viewing area and up from the parking garage. THe theme of the parade was movie moments.
Here are some sights...

These are the best Winterfest Boat Parade pics I've seen to date. A good camera and a keen eye help, but common sense and set-up make the shot. Tom, it looks like you positioned yourself where the boats had to make a complete stop in order to get the shot, because any movement would have been a blur.
Unfortunately, I missed this year's parade. Was planning to attend with K1W1, who was in town on biz, but he got caught up in contract details and I was geographically void.

Thanks for the comments.
Being positioned on the New River brought the action a lot closer, and a little slower (was by the judging area at the Riverside Hotel).
But have also been practicing night shots, using the shutter and aperture settings more for these. It's a bit difficult shooting moving targets at night while trying to capture the lights.
As the boats were moving slowly, but still moving, I found the use of a tripod invaluable to keep the camera steady for some of the extended shutter speeds, as I have a bunch of blurry shots to prove that (humbled).

Great pics there Capt Tom. Also shows the #2 PJ150. How comes they painted it Gold like O'Khalila? This would cause some confusion now?
Here is a picture posted a while back by member 'T/T Octopus' of the O' Khalila 
Compared with the 2nd 150 footer, the Hokulani by Capt Tom 
Maybe, the Hokulani has a slightly more matte tan/gold colour instead of the pure gold of O'Khalila? You figure it out.

You would think the black sat domes on Hokulani in a tropic sun would cook electronics to a well-done, no-worky.

Well that would mean that O'Khalila's electronics in her black domes would be cooked as well. It is quite interesting to see the trend towards painting these domes. It was almost all the time that they were always white once upon a time.

Not sure if the color makes a different since it's so stinkin hot down here in FL and the carribean in the middle of summer anyway.
Next time I'm there I'll ask the captain.

Some sleek boats there and beautiful pictures.I realy like the aft teak deck of Hokulani and her design.Looks like its a very fast boat from here.Thank you Capt Tom.
