| 2007 FLIBS Post-Show Boat Parade...Sort Of
It may take several weeks to set up the Ft Lauderdale Boat Show, but it seems that they try to get it broken down ASAP. On Tuesday, the day after the show, most yachts start departing the docks of Bahia Mar, Las Olas, Pier 66, etc. regardless of weather conditions. Not rain, but the wind was howling 20-30 mph and higher making for around 10-footers in the ocean, but sometimes difficult handling as yachts had to negotiate the ICW and bridge openings.
I was in town for a boat test and found the parade of yachts heading for Port Everglades and points south as well as to the local marinas. I was able to shoot these photos from different locations, but the wind sometimes made it tough keeping the camera still. I did run into a crew from the Travel Channel capturing Mine Games as she headed south, so watch for her in a segment next year. Enjoy the boat parade, or as it seemed at times, controlled chaos.

Some more:
Hinckly (I think?)
Centinella III (looks like a bad exhaust stain on starboard side. Saw this on a few others also. Must be from running generator in slip close to next boat, or from next boat).
Hatteras
Grand Cru
Nice sportfish

YL,
Thanks. Yes, Princess K is a stunning yacht with that deep blue hull.

Yea, I like Mine Game's stern with the perpendicular steps. The transom steps on most motor yachts are usual straight on one side or both OR curved around the lazarette to the main deck. These are the common designs. On Mine Games it is different, for me I think she is the first megayacht I have seen with perpendicular transom steps. It looks good!

Great shots Tom! Many thanks.
In 2005, I took up position at Pier 66 and framed about 50 yachts fleeing FLIBS. A very enjoyable way to spend the day after the show... http://www.yachtforums.com/forums/cr...fter-show.html |

Carl,
Yeah, that's what I did, Pier 66 and across the way at 15th St dock. Very cool to watch these beautiful yachts parade right in front of me. Definitely will do this again next year (start early and stay late).

You know you have a big yacht when the mast towers over the tree line. And it can be nothing other than the fabulous Lady Sheridan.
