I went down to Bahia Mar to help a friend move a brokerage boat back to home port, but Show Management delayed us for awhile. While we were waiting, I took some pictures of yachts departing Bahia Mar following the show. This is only a small sample, as most of the boats had thrown lines earlier in the day, but thought you might enjoy the few stragglers remaining.

I think I really blew a good opportunity for some great pics, as I didn't arrive at Bahia Mar until later in the day (recovering from the show!). Surprisingly, most of the fleet along the main dock had departed between 8:00 and 11:00 AM.

For what it's worth (and something is better than nothing), here's a few of them. To make the thread interesting, there are a couple of brain teasers among the collection.

The first is "Katherine". Do you know the builder?

The next one is "Fantasy". It's one of the most modern models built by this manufacturer.

Home port for this sinister looking silhouette is South Florida. She's 109' long. Who built her?

This should be easy. If I tell you the name, you'll know her immediately. She was originally built in 1989 as a 127 footer. Subsequently in 2002, she was stretched to 132 feet.

This manufacturer specializes in expeditions. Not too much about them on YachtForums. We'll have work on that. Her name is "Exodus". Do you know who the builder is?

And the last one is built by an Italian manufacturer. This is their new amphibious vehicle. It may be fast on land, but it's the slowest thing on the water right now.

I think this is the yacht Soulmates. It looks like you blurred the logo they have on both Port and Stbd.

Almost right, but should spell SOLEMATES, a 52 m Feadship from 1998

Yes, Katherine is a Trinity. Originally built as Seahawk but sold after only three months to an owner who didn´t like to wait a couple of years. It happens quite often now when the yards are busy like never before.

That would have been my first guess too! But it's currently called an "Evolve 109".

Are you sure it's a Trinity?

Because Katharine was on display at the Lauderdale show and being promoted by Richmond Yachts, who has taken over the manufacturing facilities of Soverign Yachts. The lines of Katharine are similar to Seahawk, but there are many differences. If in fact this is the ex-Seahawk, this would have been a very costly refit.

RICHMOND, British Columbia – Texas businessman Don Davis has purchased the Canadian manufacturing facility that once housed Sovereign Yachts, and has started building boats there under the name Richmond Yachts, according to a recent press release from the company.

Richmond Yacht’s six-acre yard in Richmond, B.C., contains a 70,000-square-foot state-of-the-art facility under cover and has the capacity to simultaneously build four composite yachts from 120-feet to 155-feet in length.

Sovereign Yachts, Canada, ceased operations in September 2003, but Davis funded the completion of his138-foot tri-deck yacht Status Quo, then purchased the yard’s infrastructure, leased the space, retained a 50-person workforce and in April 2004 commenced operations as Richmond Yachts.

He immediately resumed construction of a 142-foot hull, started by Sovereign, that is scheduled to launch December 2005. A lifelong yachtsman who has owned several yachts, Davis said he plans to begin building each yacht on speculation.

As Richmond Yacht’s president and CEO, Davis is the majority owner of the yard and has assembled a group of experienced professionals to manage the operations.

Keith Kiselback, vice president of operations, spent four years in that position at Crescent Custom Yachts before coming to Sovereign seven years ago. He and Davis work together on the design and detail of every yacht.

Gavin Ericksen will be responsible for the naval architecture. Ericksen spent three years in charge of the design department at Crescent Custom Yachts.
