Yachts at Bahia Mar & Pier 66; September 2004

Took a cruise by Bahia Mar and Pier 66. Both marinas are relatively quiet at this time of year, but that's about to change. I thought you might enjoy cruising along with me...

The first is "Triumphant Lady", a 147' Sterling yacht built in 1985. Designed by the late Jon Bannenberg, she is powered by a pair of 1300 hp Cats. Besides the fact that her futuristic looking design is still contemporary, some twenty years later... what makes the Lady truly unique is that she is fiberglass. When she was launched, she may have been one of the largest composite yachts in the world.

The Feadship "Gallant Lady", owned by Jim Moran (JM Enterprises, the original importer of Toyota vehicles to the U.S.). This yacht is a permanent fixture along South Florida's waterways, as this lady (and the many that came before her) are used to entertain business clients, employees and friends.

Built in 1995 by Feadship/De Vries and designed by Voogt Naval Architects, this 172' Lady of Steel is powered by twin 960-hp Cats. Here she is seen at the Bahia Mar docks...

Notice the elevation of the crow's nest. Any more altitude and they would be waving off small commuter planes.

"Starship" was docked at the 17th Street Marriott. She just finished a complete retro-fit, including new paint and interior. Star Ship has been a very successful charter boat. She was once owned by the late Bernie Little (the owner of the Miss Budweiser Hydroplane)

This Trinity was docked at a residential home between Bahia Mar and Pier 66. I couldn't see the name from the distance, but this was one of several Trinity's we saw on the water this day.

Here's another one to test your knowledge. We refer to this yacht as the "green machine". She's been berthed at the Ft. Lauderdale City Docks for quite some time. I'm certain our members know, but what about some of our new viewers. Do you know what she is?

Let me guess on some of these yachts;
#1 Most known as Bengal I. For a period she also had a blue hull.
#4 Is a hard one. It is a CRN, and could be Elizabeth F after the rebuild?
#8 Looks like Adler, the 35 m, 35 knot Baglietto that used to be white.
#9 It is a Monte Fino, their first in the Mega Formula series.
#11 Thor V, built by Cornelissen to a Mulder design, interior I think Richard Hein.
#12 Could be the Warrior from Crescent...?
